Come and Join us at the Leeds Apprenticeship Recruitment event to have a chat about the opportunity of working at Leeds Welding as an Apprentice. LWC are pleased to be in attendance at this week’s Apprenticeship Recruitment Evening at the First Direct Arena. The event, organised by Leeds Pathways is a great opportunity for young people to find out more about LWC and the possibility of becoming an apprentice.

Why become a Leeds Welding Apprentice?

We are one of the largest subcontract engineering companies in the Leeds area, employing 100 people.

What areas does the Apprenticeship focus on?

College attendance by day release to study for relevant NVQ qualifications throughout the duration of the apprenticeship.

Year 1 will involve spending time in each of the following areas:

  • CNC Laser cutting
  • CNC Folding
  • Tube bending
  • MAG welding
  • TIG welding
  • Robotic welding
  • Polishing
  • Fitting
  • Paint spraying

Subsequent years will be more focused in one of the above areas based on interest and ability and progression at college, but the overall aim is to create a multi skilled workforce of the future. Opportunities for career progression are pretty much unlimited and down to the individual, the majority of senior managers, including the directors all started their careers as apprentices.

Further opportunities after/towards the end of the apprenticeship period could include:

  • 2D /3D CAD design
  • CAM programming
  • Inspection / quality control
  • Supervision / management
  • Sales / marketing
  • Purchasing / stock control
  • Production control / management
  • Logistics / transport
